Twitter - The Open Diary

I understand the whole idea of Twitter I think. It was created in order for friends to track the movement of people that they know. I guess a primary scenario would be a person sending out a tweet like “I went to the new hot spot in Atlanta, it was a blast”. Maybe even something like “Billy took his first steps today and nobody saw it but me”. That’s fun, right? I think the creators of Twitter thought so. How it has turned into this vehicle that it has become is probably a mystery to everybody. I didn’t ever think that I would join Twitter because I didn’t quite understand what was going on there. Anybody who knows me, can tell you that I’m the one to come to when you have a problem, because Ms. Phyllis is the fix it woman. I had to say that because when I signed up to Twitter and started choosing the people that I wanted to follow, I realized that there was no one on Twitter that I actually knew. This was going to be a problem and guess who was going to have to fix it?

Being the internet socialite that I am (lol), I started sending out tweets to my favorite celebrities. After my first day on Twitter, I received a reply from none other than Russell Simmons. How cool was that? Twitter became my new thing to do. Honey I was tweeting and chatting it up with celebrities like I as one of them. It made me feel like I was a part of the “in crowd”. A strange thing happened, that I didn’t expect. I was being dubbed as “Twitter Mama”. I think it’s because I took my real life care for people to Twitter with me and I always try to encourage anyone who is having a down day.

Without the Twitter format I would never have known that my favorite celebrities were having personal struggles daily. Twitter became an open diary of the people that I admired the most. I remembered when DJ AM died and everybody was talking about his last tweets. I’m sure he didn’t have the slightest idea that he was going to die, but I think that we as human beings have a fascination with the last moments of a person’s life.

That leads me to the death of AJ Jewell. He appeared on the Real Housewives Of Atlanta and was the ex-fiancĂ© of Kandi Burruss. I found out today that he started his Twitter Page on the same day that he died. Does this give us any clue to what his last thoughts before dying were? I don’t think so, but it does give us insight on his state of being. After being seen by so many RHOA viewers and being judged by people who didn’t know him from a can of paint, I think he just had to get some shit off of his chest and he chose to take the haters head on. Did we need to know his response to the people pointing the finger at him, I’m not sure, but I am sure of one thing. He left his imprint on the universe and rather you loved him or not you need to ask yourself this question? Will anybody care about what you were thinking right before you died? If I die tonight my Twitter page will give you an idea of who I am and how I loved people, but will anybody care?

Ev, (CEO of Twitter) I don’t know what you think about the Twitter that has evolved, but know this, it is changing peoples lives. I might be the only one who sees it, but let it be made known that my Twitter Love is real for the people that I am following. This blog is dedicated to AJ and those who knew and loved him. No matter what anybody says you knew da real AJ. May God bless you and keep you all.
